Today we went to Agway in Franklin, MA.  We purchased our 1 quart water fount, the 250 watt brooder bulb, the small galvanized chick feeder, and our 15 pounds of chick starter feed.  They told us we needed 4 pounds of feed per chick for 8 weeks.  So for us, that's 3 chicks, and I'll let you do the math!  The folks at the store were so helpful.  They told us that they probably assumed we were reading a lot of books, etc., but they told us, "NOT TO OVERTHINK THIS", it's really pretty easy, water and feed.  We're actually pretty practical people, and I think we kind of already figured this out for ourselves, but it was reassuring to hear it anyway.
